The study of Ergonomics & Antropometrics

This round, I did some case study about Ergonomics and Antropometric. I would like to apply these them into my Dior retail design project, so that the design could be improved and better. These can create some critical awareness about designing the retail.

Firstly, what is Ergonomics? Ergonomics is the study of people and their relationship with the environment around them. When anthropometric data (measurements/ statistics) is applied to a product, e.g. measurements of the hand are used to design the shape and size of a handle, this is ergonomics.

In Interior Design, it is thought that by applying ergonomic principles to the design of the workplace and tools. Ergonomically-minded interior design produces living spaces that are not only 'easier' to live in, but by virtue of this ease, facilitate 'happier' living.

What is AnthropometricsAnthropometrics is the study of the human body and its movement. The study of the human body and its movement, often involving research into measurements relating to people. It also involves collecting statistics or measurements relevant to the human body, called Anthropometric Data.

A sketch about Ergonomics and Anthropometrics for my Dior retail design.

Below shown human ergonomics in interior design.

This is the standard body measurements for women as my retail design is targeted for women.

For my retail design, I need some dressing tables for the users to do makeup and skincare. Below is the standard measurements for dressing table.
